The Long Livery Series. Book Two

Today I was delighted to get the cover art for Book Two in the series. It’s a bit more sensual than Book One but, by the time they pick up this one, readers will know what to expect. I like it.

Why and How to Write Erotica?

Why? For me, the answer is quite simple. I write erotica because I enjoy writing it. I’ve written non-erotic books and been satisfied with the finished product, but writing them was hard work. Erotica, however, gives me pleasure in the act of writing it. More than that, writing the erotic scenes gives me a real thrill. Erotica has a wide market because we no longer have a society that frowns on sex and believes it should be spoken of only behind closed doors. The world is a freer place and our lives are better for it, so let’s all enjoy erotic fiction, the writers as well as the readers.

What’s the best way to go about it? Well, I know that erotica writers as well as readers turn to these blogs, so let me offer some advice on how to do it.

1.     Go to your computer when you are in the right mood for sex. If you don’t feel like doing it, you won’t be in the right mood to write about it.

2.     Start writing down all sensual thoughts that are in your mind. Don’t worry if they are not in line with the story: that can come later. The important thing now is for you to be writing in tune with your sexual thoughts.

3.     Try taking off all your clothes as you write. It can sometimes have a major beneficial effect!

4.     Now… and only now… begin to adapt your words to the story you have in hand. If you’ve started along the right lines, you’ll find that the right words will just fall into place on your screen.

How do other erotica writers get themselves in the mood? Something similar, I suspect. Come on, girls, haven’t you done it also? Haven’t you sat there typing with one hand while the other is firmly entrenched in the warmth between your legs? Call it research, if you like. Putting down in print what you actually feel. I think it makes the writing more immediate, more compelling, because it’s so close to the real thing.
